Godox SL60W Review video light on a budget

Every single big Youtuber I watch (Matti Hapooja, PotatoJet, MKBHD, TLDToday, etc.) uses the Aputure 120D and other LED video lights. I can’t afford a $745.00 light for my videos on http://youtube.com/shouldigetit so I bought a Godox SL60W since I love my Godox Xplor 600 studio strobe so much. I made this review of the strobe years ago and still love it.  Get the SL60W on Amazon.

This brings us to me wanting a great video light to use with the same modifiers. Here comes the SL60W. Which I still love. Here are some screenshots from videos I have made with it and below you’ll find my video review of the SL60W.

The best thing about the SL60W is that the brightness has very fine control with the dial on the back and also the Bowens mount lets me use the Octobox soft box that I already have. The catch lights I get with that when filming videos of myself are awesome.

The worst thing about the SL60W is the fan noise. It has a fan built in which is ALWAYS on and there is no way to turn that fan off. It’s fine if you’re not using the audio or have a lavalier microphone on your talent so long as they are 5+ feet away from the light head and speak loudly. If you’re going to order an SL60W please do use this link! https://amzn.to/3pe2Xhj Thanks! -Ben

Venice Skate Park - Los Angeles’ SkatePark on the Beach

Venice Beach in Los Angeles is known to be one of the world’s skateboarding mecca’s. The greats have skated here and it is a fantastic park that brings people from all walks of life and all parts of the world together. This weekend I went out there with my friend Irvin and his brother to shoot some photos of the skaters using the Nikon D750 and a Godox Xplor 600 Strobe.

We took photos by the flat ground area where board slides were as common as iPhones and in the big bowl at the park. Above you’ll find a collection of my favorite photographs from the skatepark in Venice.

New Studio

The new studio space in my Los Angeles apartment is setup.

Here are the results from the first shoot:

We had some fun doing a bit of a “who wore it better” test shoot with this white button-down.

Thanks to Sydney and Ryan for their help!
