Tamron 70-200 G2 Lens Review

All images shot with the Tamron 70-200 F/2.8 VC G2 on the Nikon D750.

Recently I went for a drive down the coast of California near Santa Barbara on the 101 with my friend Tess. We went for a red and black themed outfit that would contrast nicely with the orange glow of the sun behind her and some of natures beautiful colors. This shoot was a great test of Tamron’s best full frame telephoto lens which I shot handheld (without a vertical grip) with one hand on the camera body and my left-hand shading the lens for naturally increased contrast in-camera. On Vibration Control mode 3 (VC 3) the lens blew me away and allowed me to consistently get super sharp images at F/2.8. There were very few raw files that I deleted for lack of sharpness. The Autofocus speed was very fast, incredibly accurate and easy to handle with one hand thanks to the stabilization. All of the images utilized natural lighting, no reflectors or strobes on this shoot at all. The images were processed in Lightroom Classic CC and exported at 2448px at the long edge before being uploaded here. If you have any questions feel free to email me!

Color Matching with Noa Dukler in Isla Vista

I recently ordered a Nikon D750 to be my new primary full-frame camera and planned a shoot with my friend Noa to test it out. The goal of the shoot was to find locations around Isla Vista and then find clothing in Noa’s wardrobe to match the set. After about an hour of scouting we found Manzanita Village at UCSB and the rooftop of Campus Icon UCSB off of Seville Rd. Noa’s yellow sweater and olive green jeans matched perfectly with some plants on campus and her simple brown pants/ white t-shirt combo worked perfectly with a brown couch on the rooftop lounge. All of the photos were naturally lit and captured with the Nikkor 50mm F/1.4G. In the final photo I really enjoy the background of an early sunset over the Goleta area.

Isla Vista - Sneakers on Power Lines a UCSB tradition

Earlier this year I took a few hours at sunrise to photograph the various sneakers hanging above Isla Vista on the power lines. Most of these pairs have been tossed up by graduating seniors on their way out. After posting some of these photographs on my Instagram, I found out some of these shoes are owned by friends!

To make the series more interesting each pair of shoes was photographed twice. Once from further away (about 100mm zoom) and a close-up shot at 400mm.
